Dutch ergonomic seating maker BMA Ergonomics introduced the Axia Smart Chair, a chair which registers the seating position via sensors and provides direct feedback about seating behaviour.
With vibrating signals and colour coding on an electronic label, the Axia Smart Chair indicates to the user whether his seating position is optimal or not. A label attached to the seat informs the user about his seating behaviour of the past hour. With special software, seating data of a longer period of time can be viewed.
According to scientific research by the technical university of Delft, The Netherlands, feedback on seating behaviour leads to awareness and a better seating position. The Axia Smart Chair basically teaches a person how to sit correctly, which leads to less physical complaints in the longer run.
