“…, or similar…”

The end-user knows what he wants to buy and who he wants to buy it from. Rules rules rules prevent him from going directly to this supplier, he has to go out to tender. So how does he gets around it? By sending out a specification, clearly written on somebody’s product, followed by these magic two words, ‘or similar’.

Has anybody ever won a tender by offering something similar? Please let us know…
