In close cooperation with American coating manufacturer PPG Industries, Dutch office furniture maker Ahrend has developed a new powder coating without the so-called ‘red substances’. These have been replaced by components which have no adverse effect on people and the environment.
As part of its Cradle-to-Cradle policy, Ahrend wanted to take further steps in making the lacquering more sustainable. In addition to replacing the red substances, the new powder coating can now be processed structurally. Ahrend wants to completely close the recycling loop by the year 2020.
