The Dutch Authority for Consumers & Markets (ACM) has now approved this transaction.
HAL Investments also owns more than 90% of the shares of Dutch furniture producer Ahrend.
With this approval, the two largest producers of professional furniture in the Netherlands will have the same owner.
The ACM expects that competition in the office furniture market will be sufficient, even after this concentration.
ACM has investigated the participants in and winners of tenders for office furniture in the past years.
Chris Fonteijn, Chairman of the ACM said: “In tenders you regularly see other companies win from these two companies. Ahrend and Gispen have a considerable market share, but al these other companies are serious competitors.”
