According to the branch organisation of the German office furniture industry, the bso, the office furniture industry has increased its turnover by 1.2% in the first eight months of 2014 compared with the same period of last year.
The summer slowed down the good run the industry had in the first half of the year with a number of large orders.
Mostly office seating manufacturers saw their turnover increase ever so slightly by 0.7%. Desking, storage and partitioning accounted for a growth of 1.7%.
Domestic sales grew by 1.8%, whereas exports declined by 0.2% in the first eight months of 2014. This was mostly accounted for by lower sales to Russia, France, Switzerland, Austria and South Europe, which could not be entirely compensated for by sales to Northern European countries.
